Как добавить новое свойство к объекту?

Я пытаюсь добавить новое свойство к объекту, созданному с помощью моей модели User.

a = User.find(7)

Я получаю:

Я бы хотел бы добавить свойство .votes_cast к переменной "a":

a.votes_cast = 5

Но когда я пытаюсь сделать это, я получаю:

NoMethodError: undefined method `votes_casted=' for #<User:0x102c997f0>

Что я делаю не так?
