Почему мой ключ SSH не работает для подключения к github?

Примечание: я не новичок, и я делал это тысячу раз, но по какой-то причине сегодня это не сработало.

Я продолжаю получать Отказ в доступе (publickey). сообщение об ошибке при попытке подключиться к github через SSH или при попытке клонировать репозиторий, даже после переделки ключа ssh и добавления его в «Ключи SSH» в моей учетной записи.

Вот что я пытался сделать десять разсегодня безуспешно:

1. создать ключ с помощью ssh-keygen.
2. откройте ~/.ssh/id_rsa.pub с помощью Gedit или Notepad++ и скопируйте содержимое.
3. Перейдите к настройкам учетной записи на github.com
4. Перейдите к ключам SSH
5. Нажмите кнопку «Добавить ключ».
6. присвойте ключу название
7. вставьте ключ в поле для ключей.
8. Сохраните ключ (введите мой пароль на github для подтверждения).

И теперь, когда я пытаюсь сделать ssh github.com, это просто не сработает.... Что за бред? Я просто слишком устал или я что-то упускаю?
