Linux: modpost ничего не строит

У меня проблемы с получением каких-либо модулей ядра для сборки на моей машине. Каждый раз, когда я создаю модуль, modpost всегда сообщает, что модулей нет:

MODPOST 0 modules

Чтобы устранить проблему, я написал тестовый модуль (hello.c):

Когда я собираю это на моей машине, я получаю следующий результат:

Я искал любую соответствующую документацию по modpost, но мало что нашел. Кто-нибудь знает, как modpost решает, что строить? Есть ли среда, которую мне, возможно, не хватает?
